Arianna, tell us about your book?

The Audacity to Forgive is a book that was birthed out of my own personal offense. I was the victim of molestation and rape at the age of 5 years old. The book speaks to that offense and how I overcame it as well as other offenses in my life. The book literally walks the reader through the various paths that I took to forgive my offender.

How did you come up with idea for this book?

I originally wanted to write the book in novel form. At the time, I did not want anyone to know that the story was about me. I felt that I could get the same point across in a novelistic way. God literally shut that down. The project was on hold for nearly 3 years because I could not formulate how it would be written. As a mentor and minister, I began to notice how many people, believers in particular, really suffered from offense. I knew that God has called me to be a vessel that would assist people in overcoming the offense. Nearly three years after I stopped writing, I have written my true story in hopes to deliver millions.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

The most difficult aspect of writing the book was not disclosing who my offender actually was. I wanted to deliver a message of forgiveness rather than hate and condemnation. It was also difficult to revisit some of the things that I had experienced as a child. The difficulty was not due to offense, but rather due to the compassion I had for the little girl I once was and for my offender.

Why do you write?

Writing provides me with a release. Believe it or not, often times my writing is for me and just so happens to bless others.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

The lesson that I want readers to learn from this book is that forgiveness is always tangible, regardless of what the offense was. God calls his people to forgive so that we ourselves can be forgiven. I want the reader to understand that every offense provides them with an opportunity to obey God. They just need to be coached in how to seize that opportunity.

Who are your favorite authors?

I have quite a few favorite authors. I love T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyers, and Joel Osteen to name a few.

What book(s) are you reading now?

Other than the Bible, which I read daily, I am currently reading Kimberly Daniels’ “Prayers That Bring Change” and “The Shack” (for the 2nd time).

What books have most influenced your life?

Books that have most influenced my life are “The Shack” which talks about forgiveness and “He Came to Set the Captives Free,” which talks about a woman’s deliverance out of witchcraft and satanic worship. Of course, the Bible is most influential because it has all of life’s answers.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

If I had to choose, Joyce Meyers is definitely a mentor. However, I also consider Kendra Y. Adams and Dr. Alice Millsap as mentors as well.

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

I would tell aspiring writers to tell their stories. There are people (souls) that are assigned to them and they will not receive true deliverance until they write their stories.
