Toni Dupre was born and raised in Houston, Texas where she currently lives with her well-mannered Chihuahua mix, Luchia. Toni’s mother, Jydelle Taylor, was a cosmetologist who spent her time investing in her only child’s cultural and social development. Toni’s upbringing groomed her for her life’s true passion; building character and self-esteem through Etiquette & Style by Dupree (www.etiquettestylebydupree.com ), where she offers an array of social, personal, and professional development services for individuals and organizations. Toni enjoys playing with her dog, golf and traveling.


Toni graduated from Interior Arts School of Designer, and has 23 years of experience as an Interior designer. She also owns Civility Experts Houston. Toni is certified as a behavior therapist, she also holds a certification with the Center for Organizational Cultural Competence in Canada. Toni is a candidate for trainer status with International Civility Trainer’s Consortium, one of only 8 Master Trainers in the world. Toni’s other works include the columns “Etiquette in the Most Common Places” for Empower magazine and “An Etiquette Perspective” for MVMNT Magazine, a teen magazine geared to support teen spiritual awareness. Toni has been featured in the Gospel Review magazine, 40’z Rock calendar as Ms. December 2014, and creator of the app “So Rude Houston.” She volunteers for Makeover 101, Villas of Winkler and a host of other organizations.



Toni, tell us about your book?


Whose Fork Is It Anyway is about creating a dining experience. The (book) is geared towards teens, but definitely benefits everyone. I share tips on how to set a table properly, appropriate dinner conversation, proper posture and fun do's and don’ts.



How did you come up with idea for this book?


The idea for the book came about a few years after I created my PowerPoint presentation by the same name. My vision was to develop a tool that parents, schools, and organizations could use to engage our youth positive and add value to (their lives) at the same time.



What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?


The most difficult aspect of writing Whose Fork Is It Anyway was the story. I lost my mother in 2011 and writing about her and reliving actually events was tough.



Why do you write?

I write because it give me a creative outlet that allows me to be honest and free without judgment (or) restraint.



What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?


The valuable lesson I want readers to learn from Whose Is It Anyway is how knowing these dining techniques will create a quality experience by empowering confidence.



Who are your favorite authors?


My favorite authors are Edgar Allen Poe, Lawrence Sanders and E. L. James my reading (taste) are very broad...LOL


What book(s) are you reading now?


Currently, I'm reading "Fly Girl" by Omar Tyree and "A Course in Miracles." by Helen Schucman.



What books have most influenced your life?

The bible is the book that most influenced my life. I realized it when I was able to make references to certain (scriptures) and break them down for a better understanding and apply them to real life.


If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?


I would have to say Edgar Allen Poe would be my mentor because (his work) taught me how to write through my pain.


Any advice to give to aspiring writers?


The only advice I would give aspiring writers is to write in their passion.
