We want to get to the heart of the matter so we asked Shon some questions that can help us succeed in our marriages

About the Author

Shon was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio for 25 years and in 2004 moved to Phoenix, Arizona with his family. He is happily married for ten years to Londina and has two children. Shon is the owner of Never Again Ministries which promote Marriage Enhancement and Holistic Relationships in God. He's an Author, Speaker, Ordained Minister, Mentor and radio personality for "The Doctor of Love" show. He is a certified Marriage Coach and the "Marriage Works" series from AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). Shon is a fan of NFL football and UFC fights.

Questions to the Doctor

How can we spice up our marriage?

Your Marriage can be spiced up by breaking out of your regular routine. Try something different or be spontaneous. 

Buy your Wife some flowers just because you love her. She shouldn’t get flowers just for special occasions.

Lotion your Wife body after she get out the shower and build her up with your words as you lotion her down with the lights turned down low with soft music playing in the background

Date nights. Take her to a movie and dinner and if you can rent a hotel room for a weekend to get away from familiarity

Buy some lingerie. Surprise your Husband when he comes home from work

 

How can trust be restored?

Trust can be restored by consistency. There has to be a season where whoever violated the trust must let the other spouse know where they are at all times until the other spouse can feel like they can trust again. For the spouse who violated the trust they cannot tell their spouse to “get over it” because they are still grieving. Restoring trust takes time and no one can put a time limit on the healing process.

They talk more to each other

They have a wider range of subjects available to them to talk about

They keep the lines of communication open at all times

They show more sensitivity to each other feelings

They let their spouse talk without them interrupting

 

How does it make a man feel (really feel) if his wife makes more money than he does?

To be honest, it depends on the man. For most men it can become a challenge, but if his Wife never bring up the fact that she make more than him it won’t affect him as much. If she look at the finances as it’s ours and not hers she can help build up his confidence in the financial area….It may even drive him to get a better paying job. 

My husband has anger issues but won't admit it, what can I do?

What is the cause of his anger?

Do you know his past?

Converse with him on how YOU can love him past his anger

Speak his love language until you no longer see the anger in him 

 

Why does the fire die down in our marriages?

I think we get used to our Spouse after so many years of Marriage. That's why date nights (or mornings) is healthy for a Marriage. Always take time to reinvent yourself to keep the Marriage fresh.
