Four Friends, One Secret and The Weekend That Changed Their Destiny
Candace Walker, Kaylan Smith, Jordan Tate, and Tiffany Thomas have their share of sorrows, but neither of them realizes how deep the sorrow goes. What happens when they agree to meet for a weekend of relaxation in beautiful Napa County? Which one will leave the same or worse?
For Candace Walker, life has left her battered and bruised. Kaylan Smith has struggled with prejudice from her in-laws. After fifteen years of marriage, bitterness is trying to raise its ugly head for Jordan Tate, whose husband wants to call it quits. And for Tiffany Thomas, dealing with rejection has never been one of her greatest feats.
Although they have been friends for years, they thought they knew each other well. But will a secret destroy their relationship and bring the sisterhood to a complete halt? Will they be able to forgive and allow God to mend that which might be torn?

“Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you for blessing us with this weekend. Thank you for Kaylan, who opened her home like she has. Bless the food, and allow it to bring nourishment to our bodies. We rebuke the calories and the fat that this weekend will leave on our hips. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” After they chuckled, they said, “Amen” in unison.
For the next hour or so, they did not raise their heads; nor did they say a word. They feasted slowly, savoring all the flavors, herbs, and spices from the seafood and noodles. Tonight was not the night to have manners, not with crab and tiger prawns. They licked lips and fingers, and smacked on the food the entire time.
After savoring over tonight’s meal, the caterers brought them each a warm towel for their hands and mouth. The cheese cake would have to wait until later; they were too stuffed to even consider taking a small slice. But a cup of flavored coffee seemed to hit the spot.
“Jordan, are you okay?” Kaylan peered at her. “Is something bothering you? I can tell you are in another place and time. That’s what this weekend is for, so we could bond, get free, and allow God to heal us.”
Tiffany moved her chair closer, and looked Jordan directly in the eyes.  “I’m sure we got a whole lot to talk about this weekend.” Tiffany continued to emphasize her point. “These men, I just don’t know about them. Some of them don’t want to commit, some of them want to sleep around, and some of them don’t know when they have a good woman.” It appeared that Tiffany wanted to continue her rant, but the look Jordan gave her indicated that it was time to move on. “Oops, my bad. Sorry, Kaylan, you were talking to Jordan, huh?”
The room fell silent. Jordan nodded, but didn’t smile.  “Something is, but I’ll wait till later to talk about it. I don’t want to spoil our lunch,” she said sadly. Kaylan saw the worry in Jordan’s eyes, as well as her effort to try and control her emotions.
The look of shock was evident on Kaylan’s face. Those words pierced her sharply as though a knife had been thrust in her chest. What in the world was Tiffany talking about when she said ‘Men sleeping around.’ Whose husband was she referring to? Considering there are only two married women at the retreat, she is either talking about Bryan or Eric. And I know she ain’t talking about my husband, Kaylan pondered.
Kaylan took a sip of coffee before she spoke. “Now Tiffany done got me wondering what she’s talking about.” She stared at Jordan and reached for her hand. “Jordan, when you’re ready, we are all ears.” Out of the corner of her eye, she took a glimpse at Candace, who was squirming in her seat.

Kaylan leaned back in her chair and looked back and forth at her three friends. Friends since high school, but she wondered did she really know them like she thought. It was quite obvious that Tiffany knew something about somebody’s husband, Jordan was going through a major test, and Candace was uncomfortable, but why? She said a silent prayer: “Lord, please don’t let nothing jump off up in here.”

5 Ways to Empower Women to Grow: Spiritually and Emotionally, by Paulette Harper #guestpost #spirituality #purpose #amreading #tips

Finding Purpose

"Life without purpose is time without meaning"
 Dr. Miles Monroe

“So many of us allow bad experiences to get the best of us and we don’t learn how to turn those experiences into stepping stones for us to grow spiritually, emotionally, financially or socially. I would be the first to agree that life can be hard and challenging however if we take a look back and begin to analyze how to use those bad experiences to help us in one area of our life, we will never look at bad experiences the same.”

Coming from Paulette Harper‘s book Completely Whole, which provides women of all ages with keys to living a life on purpose, spirit, soul and body.

Finding Purpose in Life

Learning How to Live a Happier Life

1. Accepting that sometimes the “Why” will never get answered. Handling our experience better, comes when we accept the fact that many times we won’t be able to change the outcome to what has happened. We can be resolved knowing it happened for some purpose or reason.

2. There is no easy way out. Many times we want to escape the bad experiences by not dealing with them head on, but that won’t solve anything. Stop for a moment, look at the situation and make the necessary changes that are required to be more empowered.

3. Realize that God is in control. Our lives are totally in the hands of someone who knows how all things will pan out. Trust Him in every situation, knowing that He will guide you as you look to Him for help.

4. Forgive yourself and others. In life people will hurt us. That includes family, spouses, children, and parents. As you forgive others for their trespasses, people will also forgive you.

5. Pray that God will show you what it is He is trying to teach you. Allow this opportunity to let God reveal to you what lessons are to be learned. Treat each experience as a great opportunity to grow and mature.

CHOOSING THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR WITH MYCKELLE P. WILLIAMS

About The Book

Born in an environment of drugs, sex, broken relationships, and parental neglect, 18-year-old Myckelle Williams eventually faced a major crossroads in her own life, and the prospect of becoming a statistic, as a desperate teenager unexpectedly pregnant with her second unplanned child. Like so many young women across America, she found herself literally at a ‘fork in the road’ while travelling life’s path. Myckelle soon discovers that each choice in life come with a heavy price to pay, and is forced to decide whether or not to end her unplanned pregnancy. You will be amazed as Myckelle tells how one uncommon act of unselfish love by total strangers helped her to discover forgiveness, break generations of dysfunction, and walk away from destructive cycles that enabled her to change her life, and family, from the inside out.

Join Myckelle on a journey of hope, healing, and finding love in unexpected places, that include powerful life lessons for the reader with each new chapter.

By pulling from Robert Frost’s poem, ‘The Road Not Taken’, you will be led on a journey of self- discovery, forgiveness, and the impact of everyday choices. Her story of faith, courage, and victory over circumstance, contains powerful illustrations for women of all ages, races, and backgrounds, which provide guidance in creating new traditions and generational patterns in your own family, as well as breaking old strongholds and family patterns that threaten to keep you and your children from the Purpose that God intended. As she struggles with often agonizing acceptance of the consequences of her own choices, you too will be inspired to reflect on your own past decisions, and through her heartache learn about the miracle of life’s true purpose...and discover the unconditional reality of God’s unfailing love.

PROLOGUE

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose...I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.
~Jeremiah 1:5

“I’d like to make an appointment...for an abortion.”

Desperation and shame filled my voice, and I hoped the lady on the other end didn’t know me or my parents.

“How many weeks are you? When was your last period?” The lady on the other end asks, seemingly not surprised, sounding more annoyed than anything else.

I gave her the dates she requested, asking “How much will that cost?”

Annoyed sigh. “You are fourteen-and-a-half weeks. Well, the process will be much longer because you are further along, but it will be $375 total.”

“Do you take Medicaid?”

“Yes.”

“When can I come in?

“Tuesday at 8 a.m.

“Do I need to bring anything?”

“Just your money, or Medicaid card, proof of pregnancy. And a ride home.”

I hung up and looked at my boyfriend. How were we going to afford that? We could barely afford to take care of our eleven month old son, the child I had had less than a year ago at age seventeen. “It’s cool.” He told me. “My sister has Medicaid. We can use her card. You just use her name and info.”

KINGDOM PRINCIPLES FOR EVERYDAY LIVING VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR WITH STEWART PERRILLIAT

About The Book

The book is a 40 day devotional. It's a great book for men and women. This book is designed to help those who are struggling with a consistent prayer life. It's easy to read and very fruitful.

Guest Post

Over the years, I have come to understand the significance of the number 40. Scientifically speaking, 40 weeks is the length of time it takes for a mother to carry an unborn child from conception to delivery. Biblically speaking, 40 is the number associated with a period of testing before a breakthrough.

The number 40 is an indication that God is ready to birth something new out of pain or challenge. According to the Bible, Noah was in the rain for 40 days and nights before God brought a refreshing promise for His people.

When the Children of Israel were ready to cross over into their promise, the spies who preceded them took 40 days to scout out the land. However, because of disobedience, their 40 days turned into 40 years before they entered into the land of promise.
Goliath, who was killed by David, challenged the Children of Israel for 40 days prior to their victory over the Philistine army.

Before He began His ministry, Jesus, while being tempted by satan, fasted for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness.

I have experienced my own personal 40 days of trials and tribulations. However, because I did not lose my confidence in God, I was able to realize the significance of the number 40 and receive God’s blessings for me after my test. These truths concerning the number 40 inspired me to write this devotional.

In modern times, 30 days is used to complete various programs or to create a new habit. At the beginning of the year, Magazine cover stories often read, Thirty Days to a New You. For the purpose of this devotional the true number for the manifestation of a renewed life is the number 40.

Therefore, this devotional will afford you an opportunity to develop a more intimate relationship with the Lord and transform your life. As you read this devotional, it will give you hope and renew your strength. On those days when doubt and disbelief abound, I encourage you to remain consistent with your 40 day cycle of reading Kingdom Principles for Everyday Living: 40 Practical Principals for a Fruitful Life.
I challenge you to apply yourself and expect a breakthrough by the time you have complete this devotional. I encourage you to not only read through the devotions in this book, but to read the related scriptures and commit them to memory. This process will increase your knowledge of God, and strengthen your faith towards Him.

God’s will for us is to increase in every area of our lives by being doers of His Word. I pray that this devotional draw you closer to God and give you the incredible power to break into your promise.
