There came a point when I came to realize that I could not be worried about what others would think, I could not worry about the effect that it would have on their mental or psychological well- being but it was more important for me to focus on me becoming whole again and helping someone else become whole too. My wholeness and purpose outweighed their comfort. So many times we as people get so caught up in other people’s feelings that we forget about our own feelings and we wind up crippling ourselves. We cripple ourselves mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.
The question that I began to ask myself now that I was in this conundrum is HOW DO I GET UP FROM THIS MESS?” My process to getting back to wholeness began with this premise and asking myself where will I be in 1 year if I took it one step at a time and began to work on me?

I was bombarded with all these questions and I am going to take you on my journey and show you how I decided and got back from broken. When I decided to begin my journey I had to begin with where the battle originated from and that was in my mind. I had to start with a renewing of my mind and the way that I thought, spoke, acted and carried myself. The self- imprisonment that I had placed myself in had to be broken. You cannot begin to heal and get back from broken until you get to the core of where the brokenness began, most often that is in our minds.

I had let others control me in the past without a second thought or even acknowledging the fact that they were in control of me. There were so many years wasted because of this. I didn’t know where to turn to or who to turn to which did not bold well for me because when one is in a state of brokenness we often cannot or do not think with a rational mind. We are distorted in many respects so therefore having someone to guide me out of the brokenness/darkness into the light/wholeness is what was missing.

No one seemed to recognize the hurt and pain that I was feeling on the inside because on the outside I was wearing the mask that covered it up and from the outside looking in everything seemed to be just fine. My parents, who of course loved and adored me, were not even able to recognize what I was going through on the inside of me. My church family didn’t seem to take heed of what was going on with me either. The denomination that I was raised in Holiness, was a denomination that felt as if they were always right. You dare not touch or approach the Pastor/Man of God, unless he wanted you in his circle. It was fire and brimstone if you watched a movie with your family and women were jezebels for wearing make-up or jewelry. There seemed to be something wrong with the way that the church was operating because while the congregation seemed to be poor or not doing so well, the preacher’s pockets were getting fatter and fatter. This just didn’t make sense to me.

Q. How did your life as a writer begin?

A. I have been writing all my life but as an author it began this past year with my book BACK FROM BROKEN….A DANCERS JOURNEY BACK TO WHOLENESS.

Q. What makes you feel inspired to write?

A. Wanting to help others and see others not go through some of the things that I went through. I have a desire to inspire others to be the greatest person that they can be.

Q. How did you come with the idea for your current story?

A. My Publisher and I came up with the title and the story was my personal story that I wanted to tell.

Q. Tell us about your writing process.

A. Do you outline, or are you more of a seat of your pants type of a writer? We developed the table of contents and then we developed each chapter and what we wanted them to say. I go to a hotel or a quiet spot that I can concentrate and focus on my writing and let it flow through me.

Q. What is your favorite scene in the book? Why?

A. Chapter 9 redefining the woman inside, because it was the point in which I began to understand me and where I was going.

Q. What is your most interesting writing quirk?

A. I must go to a quiet place so that I can focus and concentrate.

Q. What is your usual writing routine?

A. Usually I start with the table of contents and then I break down each chapter and think about how I would like them to flow and what I want them to say.

Q. What is the highest goal that you desire to meet as an author?

A. To go on to be a Best Selling Author and to be able to travel throughout the world and help others to get back to wholeness. Also to be in Ms. Oprah Winfrey’s library…

Q. Who is the one author that you would love to meet someday and why?

A. TD Jakes, because of how inspirational he was to me getting through my tough time and also to be speaking at one of his conferences.

Q. What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone that wants to get into writing?

A. Write, write, write…..always believe in your story.

Q. What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?

A. The I Factor by Pastor Van Moody

Q. How do you spend your free time? Do you have a favorite place to go and unwind?

A. The beach, I love the water and that is how I unwind.  Can you share with us something off your bucket list?

Yes. You can. I want to go to New York, I have never been there and would love to go.

Q. What do you have in store next for your readers?

A. Another book, which will be a children’s book and also workshops and webinars this year focusing on getting back to whole!!!

Q. Is there anything else you’d like to share with your readers?

A. Just, I have a song entitled Hallelujah on Itunes that can be downloaded for them to listen to as well as my book.

Q. Describe your book in three words?

A. POWERFUL, INSPIRATIONAL AND  IMPACTING (Life Changing)…You will not be the same after you read it!!!
