Q & A with Keysha Dale

You’re a successful healthcare executive, why did you decide to add author to your role?

During my Rock Bottom experience, I vowed to myself that I would help other women avoid the
mistakes I made that landed me in the situation. I also wanted to encourage women to be tenacious
and remain hopeful that at any given moment God can move you out of the Rock Bottom pit.

What do you hope readers will gain from reading Rock Bottom Success?

I hope my readers will gain truth; the good, bad and ugly about what it’s like to hit Rock Bottom; my mentors shared and exposed me to things however I really wish they had shared those details of their poor choices in the workplace.

For example, in the book I share that I didn’t find out until after I prematurely resigned from my job
that one of my mentors resigned from the same supervisor for the exact same reason as I did a few
years before me.

How did finding yourself at “Rock Bottom” propel you to success? In what ways did it make you dig deeper to see yourself and the world around you?

Wow! My rock bottom experience was the pivotal point of my life which carried over to my career. I
believed that God has so much for me that it was imperative that he prune all the things that were
not of him. This is the reason the pearls of wisdom have been incorporated into the book. A pearl is
made from the journey of being molded by an irritant and water that assist with smoothing it to a
gorgeous and elegant pearl.

If you could go back and change anything about your personal journey, what would it be?

Absolutely Nothing! Every iota of my Rock Bottom experience prepared me for my today.

How has having mentors helped you gain clarity about your career direction and overall
purpose in life?

Mentors have brought clarity by allowing me to share ideas off. I also allow them to challenge me
with the goal of identifying the next steps of my career.

How has mentoring others helped you to better understand yourself and women entering the workplace?

It’s helped me to keep learning. Mentees bring out the best in me and help me to see how much I
have matured as a businesswoman.

What is the most beneficial career advice you’ve ever received?

Never forget to assist others as others have assisted you in your professional development.

How do you balance career, family and service?

By taking care of me first; my order is God, me, and then my family. Live life and don’t let it live you.
Girlfriend time and me time is a must!

From a manager’s perspective, how can women in entry level positions gain the attention of decision makers when seeking advancement in the workplace?

By staying engaged company projects, volunteer to do various projects and trainings. Do the things
that others do not want to do. Always be willing to sharpen the saw and one day you will be the
most knowledgeable, visible, and noticed person in the workplace.

With harassment prevalent in the work environment, what advice can you offer women who
find themselves on the receiving end of a rude or insensitive coworkers attacks?

A person should stay focused on the bigger picture of why they are at the organization. Oftentimes,
rude coworkers are merely distractions. Find a safe place of coworkers, women or men, to connect
with. It’s always alright to address the rudeness by expressing how you feel. It’s not what you say but
your delivery. As it relates to harassment, always see your HR department and put it in writing to
carbon copy your HR file.

Moving forward, what’s next for you?

I have a workbook that assist those who desire to further their professional development. Also,
exploring future possibilities of having an on-line course on workbook topics.

EXCERPT

The stall-warning horn soon blared in his ear as the airspeed dropped. With the plane in this position, it could easily enter a spin. He’d read many reports of airplanes spinning into the ground, killing all on board.

It’s about to happen; keep your feet ready on the rudder pedals and your hands light on the wheel. Be ready to level out the airplane if a wing starts to drop. Rapidly, the left wing dropped below the horizon. I’m gonna lose control of this bird if I don’t do this right! He pushed the yoke forward to get the airplane’s nose well below the horizon and rolled the control wheel right to try to level the wings. It seemed like an eternity before the plane responded to his attempt but respond it did and began flying again. A whew escaped as he exhaled. His soaked shirt clung to him.

“Let’s head back to the airport,” was all Thomas said. He didn’t say a word about what had just happened. Not a good sign. All of the study, effort, and money I’ve put into this, and now to blow it on the last thing the examiner asked me to perform . . . well, it doesn’t feel right. Had he just blown his chance at getting his pilot's license?

You’ll smile, gasp, and shed some tears. In the end, you’ll find hope.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW #WOMENWHOSOAR #ANTHOLOGY #NEWBOOKALERT #INSPIRATIONAL #NONFICTION #MEMOIR @wnlbooktours

Welcome to Nothing But Books

Today's Featured Author

Meiah Shaun

1)    I first want to thank you for taking the time out of your very busy schedule to do this interview.  Speaking of your busy schedule you are one of the authors in the best-selling book Women Who Soar, tell us a about yourself?

I’m an author, playwright and a prophetic voice. My writings are faith-based messages where I link my personal life experiences with spiritual life lessons that I’ve experienced. My latest novel is, Burnt Orange,an inspirational coming-of-age story based on real-life events from my life. Other works include my stage plays My First Love & A Rich Woman's Party, published by HCP Book Publishing.

I’m a graduate of LeTourneau University and Touch of God Healing and Deliverance School of Ministry. I studied play writing at Dallas Theater Center. I’m a member of Christ Purpose International Church. I’m a native of Orange, Texas and currently reside in the Dallas, Texas area.

2)    What’s the title of your chapter?

A Crown of Beauty

3)    Tell us about your chapter?

This chapter ministers to the reader on inner healing and deliverance. I share my personal life experiences and provide life-changing content on the strategy to defeat emotional pain, distress and darkness.

4)    What do you hope readers will learn/discover from reading your chapter?

My prayer is that the reader will receive revelation through the word of God and understand their spiritual authority. They no longer have to suffer from emotional hurts, wounds, traumas, fears, heart issues, character deficiencies and sickness. They will be able to identify the causes and the spiritual roots. And the reader will receive an impartation to break free from bondage and receive their divine healing through the love and power of Jesus Christ.

5)    What inspired you to participate in this anthology?

It was a goal of mine to do a collaborative writing project with other authors. When the opportunity presented itself, I knew that it was my prayer answered.

6)    What’s next for you?

I’m preparing to produce my own stage play.  I’m currently working on the script.

7)    What was the most difficult aspect of writing this chapter?

Meeting the tight deadline but everything came together beautifully.

8)    Why do you write? Is it something you've always done, or always wanted to do? Or is it something that you started fairly recently?

I began writing poetry and short stories around age 8. Writing has always been my passion. In 2013, I began writing professionally and became a self-publisher.
During that year, I met some self-published Christian authors in a writer’s ministry group. I had no idea that I could self-publish as an alternative to a traditional publisher and a literary agent.

9)    In three words describe your chapter?

1)   Anointed
2)   Epic
3)   Life-changing

10)How can people connect with you?

On Facebook or Twitter under Meiah Shaun. My email is meiahshaun@gmail.com
