EXCERPT

“Look at her”- my eyes meet my friend- “I support and love you.”
“Look at her”- my eyes shift to my next friend- “I support and love you.”
“Look at her”- my eyes turn to my other friend- “I support and love you.”
“Look at me”- my eyes are at my friend creating this moment- “I support and love you.”

It was moments before I would speak for my first in-person event. God led my friend Kiyanni Bryan to instruct me to turn and look at all my sisters in the back room with me - Lakia Perez, Ciara Mason, Melissa Daughtry, and herself, and allow them to say those words to me. With tears rolling down my eyes, the reality of their words sinking in brought me to a new level of freedom and deliverance.

It can weigh on you when you have had to manage the fights of ministry and fights in your personal life. It never means quitting or giving up, but with the right people around you, it still means making sure you position yourself to heal in the areas where you have been wounded.

Write Now Literary is pleased to be organizing a two-week book tour and $25 Visa Gift Card Giveaway for His Strength In My Weakness by Dr. Eurita Taylor. The book tour will run Sept 20- Oct 1, 2021.

Genre: Inspirational Nonfiction, Memoir

ISBN-978-1545663172

Dr. Eurita Taylor is gifted to understand the unique struggles of single mothers. As a survivor of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, she penetrates their pain, frees them from binding insecurities, and directs them to His glory. Accountant by day and counselor by night, Dr. Eurita uses her personal experiences, professional skills, and Ph.D. in Christian counseling to empower women struggling with low self-esteem, homelessness, and financial stewardship.

What happens when children can’t trust the adults who are supposed to protect them?

With childhood innocence snatched from her, Dr. Eurita Taylor questioned God. For years, she ran from Him and into the arms of abuse, hunger, and depression. With her personal prodigal son experience, she released the hurt, betrayal, and abandonment to make her way back to the lover of her soul. His Strength in My Weakness chronicles her journey from wallowing in pity, doubt, and unbelief to reconnecting with Her Father. Showered with grace, mercy, and an abundance of love, she understood that the power to overcome was always in reach.

In this book, you will discover:

• Why God wants to turn your self-hatred into self-love

• Strategies to boost your confidence and faith

• How to shift your perspective to see failures as steps toward success

• Scriptures, prayers, and inspirations affirming that He is always with you

• Forgiveness as a tool to bless others and yourself

Praise for His Strength In My Weakness

“Dr. Taylor’s story told in her book, His Strength in My Weakness, is powerful, compelling, and at times, raw. She provides a roadmap which shows that no matter how difficult life can be, you can experience hope, breakthrough, and triumph with God.”

—Pastor Michael Kelly, Grace Fellowship Church Columbus, Ohio

“As I laid in the hospital bed and heard the doctor say, ‘You should have been dead,’ I thought about how reading His Strength in My Weakness comforted me. I am not a spiritual person and had limited understanding of the Bible references, but I read them over and over. Now I believe that He has a reason for keeping me alive.”

—Cheryl Kaiser, Manager at Speedway

#MOTIVATIONALMONDAY #INSPIRATIONALMOMENTS

Ruth 1:20-22
And she said to them, Call me not Naomi pleasant; call me Mara bitter, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, but the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?

If you have never read this story, here we have a woman whose life was drastically changed. First, she and her husband, Elimelech, and their two sons left Bethlehem because of a severe famine.

Looking for a better life, they journeyed to Moab. While in Moab, Naomi’s husband, Elimelech, dies, and ten years later, her two sons die, leaving her to care for her two daughters-in-law. Naomi decided to return to Bethlehem, but upon returning she has no husband or sons, instead a bitter heart.

Just as Naomi did not understand why God had chosen to take her through one of the most challenging experiences in life, some of us pondered as well. Just like a child growing up in life we have expectation and plans that usually don’t include bruises, flat tires, accidents and bumps in the road.

We have a choice to make, either we are going to allow the situations to make us bitter, with what He had allowed, or we are going to let the situation develop and make us into a better person, today, decided to use the situation as a catalyst to make your life better. You can do it!!!!

Dancing in the Hall

It was one of those rare moments, a spontaneous celebration erupting out of nowhere. The adult students in my Communications II class were learning the rhetorical strategies of pathos, ethos, and logos by presenting short skits. The last skit provoked a lot of noise, with one student bursting into the classroom waving a loaded eraser while the student portraying Pathos cowered under a desk crying. So loud had been her screams that several male students and the dean showed up at our doorway.

To “get back at me” for the disruption my class had caused, the professor of Music Empowerment chose to bring her students out to the hallway to sing “I’m Every Woman.” I led my class out to join in. There we were, forty students and two professors, dancing and singing during class hours.

I watched the faces of my students: they were joyous, elated to be engaging in a few moments of revelry, casting off their cares of being adult students with jobs, families, and financial woes.

Adults need the opportunity to play. In 2016, studies report that 30% of adults are working at multiple jobs. With the responsibility of children still living at home and elder parents needing care, the adult of 21st century America is stressed, tired, and on the verge of emotional collapse. Some adults have also returned to school for greater employment opportunities following job loss.

College programs designed for adult students are different than traditional programs.  Most adults who return to school are only on campus for class and library use. It is no wonder that adult students feel isolated. This sense of isolation is a reason only one out of four adult college students finish a degree. Reasons students drop out range from financial to family concerns, but high on the list is emotional overload.

Continuing education should bring with it joy in acquiring new knowledge and self-satisfaction in reaching a goal, but the opposite is often true. The overwhelming work required of higher education squeezes out the little leisure time left over from other responsibilities. Adults who do manage to finish their degrees report that they feel elated when the process is over.

But there's nothing wrong with a little elation along the way. We should all occasionally dance in the hallway.

A Friend Who Refreshes

As we flip our calendars from August, ushering in September, we say farewell to our summer vacations and hello to the season of back-to-school, cooler temperatures of fall and one of the highlights of our home: football. Here’s another bonus of September: it’s also Women’s Friendship Month and I love the gift of friendship!

Recently I was reading in Acts about Paul and how difficult life had become for him. He was beaten, bound with chains, accused by the Jews, imprisoned, taken before councils and Rulers, and then eventually sent to Rome. I imagine by the time Paul boarded the ship to begin his journey to Rome he was a tired man; he’d endured a great deal. As I’m feeling bad for him, this verse jumps out at me: “The next day we landed at Sidon; and Julius, treating Paul with [thoughtful] consideration, allowed him to go to his friends there and be cared for and refreshed” (Acts 27:3 AMP).

I simply adore the fact Julius, the guard in charge, thought enough of Paul to recognize he needed the care and refreshment of his friends. That part of the story just blesses my heart because I’m so grateful for those who recognized when I needed the care and refreshment only a faithful friend could bring. While my journey, or your journey, may never look like Paul’s, it’s still possible for imprisonment to find us.

We might endure a prison of darkness when depression covers us like a thick heavy blanket. Or chained to a past we can’t seem to move away from. We may find ourselves standing before accusers—relentless in voicing their opinions while refusing to hear ours. Life is full of moments when the waters can become a turbulent sea.

That’s when we need our own Julius, the guard in our lives, to recognize our need for care and refreshment. Who is traveling your journey with you? Who is your guard in life that notices when you’re about to break? Who reaches out when you begin drifting away? We all need a guard like Julius, someone willing to stand by us, giving thoughtful consideration to our needs. And we all crave friends who bring care and refreshment to our lives. Proverbs 11:25b promises, “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (NIV).

Guarding and Caring always brings:

R-Refreshing.

#MOTIVATIONALMONDAY Finding the Purpose of Life #completelywhole @pauletteharper

Finding the Purpose of Life

5 Ways to Grow:  Completely Whole

“So many of us allow bad experiences to get the best of us and we don’t learn how to turn those experiences into stepping stones for us to grow spiritually, emotionally, financially or socially.  I would be the first to agree that life can be hard and challenging however if we take a look back and begin to analyze how to use those bad experiences to help us in one area of our life, we will never look at bad experiences the same.”

Coming from Paulette Harper‘s book Completely Whole, which provides women and men with keys to living a life on purpose, spirit, soul and body.

Here are her five suggestions on learning how to live a happier life.

1. Accepting that sometimes the “Why” will never get answered.  When we can accept that many times we won’t be able to change the outcome and accept what has happened, and realized that it happened for a purpose and rest in that, we are better prepared to handle all experiences.

2. There is no easy way out. Many times we want to escape the bad experiences by not dealing with them head on, but that won’t solve anything. Stop for a moment, look at the situation and make the necessary changes that are required to be more empowered.

3. Realize that God is in control. Our lives are totally in the hands of someone who knows how all things will pan out. Trust Him in every situation, knowing that He will guide you as you look to Him for help.

4. Forgive yourself and others.  In life people will hurt us. That includes family, spouses, children, and parents.  As you forgive others for their trespasses, God will forgive you of yours.

5. Pray that God will show you what it is He is trying to teach you.  Allow this opportunity to let God reveal to you what lessons are to be learned. Treat each experience as a great opportunity to grow and mature.

About The Book

onesundayatatimefront

What does crazy look like? Let Deborah tell it, it's the reflection that looks back at her in the mirror. She has a career she loves, two beautiful children and a handsome and successful husband. Her life seems to be the blueprint almost every woman she knows would kill to live. But working full-time, being a full-time mother, full-time wife and a full-time Sunday only Christian seems to be taking its toll on her. With all the scheming and shenanigans Deborah orchestrated to get this lifestyle, she might have to come up with a whole set of new ones to maintain it.

Lynox is Deborah's husband who she thanks God for putting back into her life after a game of cat and mouse that defies the laws of romance. He feels that all Deborah needs is to let her hair down, maybe make some new friends and live a little. When Deborah agrees and then suspects Lynox of having an affair with the woman that he suggested she form a friendship with, will he live to regret his own advice?

Character Interview

Q. Please tell the readers who are the main characters?

Deborah is the main character in my book, One Sunday at a Time. Deborah runs her own business from home, which is sometimes a hard act to juggle with her role as a mother, wife, and a Christian trying to stay saved. But Deborah simply throws on her cape and hopes it will help her to fly.

Lynox is Deborah’s husband. The suave, debonair Lynox Chase is the man Deborah had wanted for years. She’d had him once before, but had left him hanging when she decided to give her ex another try. The spark never fully developed in the rekindling of Deborah’s romance with her old flame. With her ex no longer in the picture, Deborah had to eat crow and go claim Lynox. In reconnecting, those two defied the laws of romance, but ultimately ended up together. The thing is now, though, with Deborah losing control of her life and her mind, can they stay together?

Q. What or is there conflict in the story?

There is definitely conflict in the story, and Deborah seems to be not only in the middle of it all, but the cause of it all. Anger and anxiety issues consume Deborah, still leaving plenty of room for control issues and depression. Lynox knew she had come along with some baggage when he married her, but he had no idea the weight of her luggage exceeded the limits in which he could travel through their marriage with. Everyone knows there is a price to pay for overweight luggage. Will it be worth the cost for either Deborah or Lynox?

Q. Which characters in One Sunday at a Time “are you most like? I’m not just most like the main character of Deborah, I am Deborah. I believe that after reading this book, so many readers out there will realize that Deborah represents some characteristics they may have as well.

I didn’t do some of the things Deborah did, but I absolutely felt the way Deborah felt in this story, which was crazy and inundated with everything that was going on in my life.

Q. Take us inside “your book” What are two major events taking place?

In One Sunday at a Time, one of the major events that take place is when Deborah goes from simply feeling as though she’s up to her neck with tasks, responsibilities and expectations of life, to completely going under to the point of drowning. Prayer doesn’t seem to be the lifesaver she needs, and the lifeguard—God—appears to be off duty. Not knowing how much longer she can hold her breath under water, Deborah takes matters into her own hands by making a decision to do something that almost no Christian woman would ever admit to doing.

The second event is the turning point when even Deborah’s husband, Lynox, feels that it’s going to take more than God to help his wife; it’s going to take herself. Lynox feels that perhaps he’s obstructing God’s path and may need to get out of the way. Things go from bad to worse when Deborah feels Lynox is turning his back on her. It hurts Deborah to the core. And like they say, hurt people hurt people. Like I say, hurt people hurt people…including themselves.

Q. Are your characters from the portrayal of real people?

As an author I write what I know, I research what I don’t know, and then I make up all the rest. So typically the people portrayed in my books are me; the good, the bad and the ugly. That’s what I love so much about writing; I get to put my true self behind the pen, that way when I speak on my life or give my testimony, the devil can’t hold it over my head. I tell my story before Satan can. Satan likes to use humiliation, shame, guilt and embarrassment. When I tell my story through my ghostwriter, the Holy Ghost, it’s with much grace and mercy. Might there be some conviction? Sure. But what there is not is condemnation.

Q. Describe each character in three words?

Real Life People. I say this because as an author who wants each title to be better than the last, at some point I had to graduate from simply writing about characters to writing about people. I wanted my readers to feel as though they were reading about a friend, neighbor, relative, or themselves.

When I first started writing books, I wrote about characters. Once I started to receive emails and testimonies from readers about how the lives in my stories mirrored their own or someone they knew, I realized then that some readers didn't see the people I was writing about as some fictitious character. They were real and their lives were real. More importantly, they were emotionally connected. At that point I knew I couldn't deny my readers of what they longed for (a connection/relationship with the people I write about) and continue creating characters from dust. I had to give them real live people with real life situations. I could no longer create these plots and scenarios just because they sounded like they would make for good drama and a great twist. Heck, real life is filled with enough drama, twists and turns of its own. So why not just bring the real and bring the truth? Readers can relate to something that not only feels real, but they know to be real.

Q. If your book became a movie who would play the characters?

I think I missed my calling as an actress. I felt that way when I played the role of Helen in a play that was based on my book, She Who Finds a Husband. Because I put more of myself in the characters of Helen or Deborah, in One Sunday at a Time, I would love to play the role of Deborah. I could see actor Vincent Ward playing Lynox, although he’s more in the pocket when he plays the role of a bad guy, and Lynox is a pretty decent guy. Vincent actually played the role of Blake in the stage play “She Who Finds a Husband,” and he nailed it. Some of you might recognize Vincent as Oscar in The Walking Dead.

Q. Your lead characters have “baggage” that keeps them from wanting to pursue a new relationship.

Do you think sometimes we let our past get in the way of what God has planned for our futures? Even though One Sunday at a Time is book number thirteen in my “Divas” series (She Who Finds a Husband, Been There Prayed That, Love Honor or Stray, Trying to Stay Saved, I Can Do Better All By Myself, And You Call Yourself a Christian, The Perfect Christian, The Sunday Only Christian, I Ain't Me No More, More Than I Can Bear, You Get What You Pray For, When All is Said and Prayed, One Sunday at a Time, Lady of the House) it all started with She Who Finds a Husband, in which a single’s ministry was created. Although the women were interested in finding a man to spend their future with, they had to deal with that raggedy past of theirs. Deborah, my main character in One Sunday at a Time, was one of those women.

That baggage is hard to let go of when a person has a death grip on it. Deborah and her husband Lynox play a game of cat and mouse that defies the laws of romance. But all that baggage that was swept up under the rug (Deborah’s emotional rug) gets to stinking. Lynox has a hard time standing and coping with the stench. Deborah, like so many women, allows her past to keep her so bound, that God can’t catapult her and Lynox to where they need to be.

Q. How do you see yourself in your character’s story, if at all?

I knew who Deborah was because she was me. The emotions I had her experience and go through in the book were some of the same emotions I had dealt with in my own life. I began to pen One Sunday at a Time after looking at myself in the mirror one day and asking the very same question I have Deborah ask: “What does crazy look like?” I honestly thought crazy looked like me. If I felt this way, I could only imagine how many other women wearing multiple hats—being mother, wife, working and trying to stay saved—might have felt. I wanted them to know that they were not alone, because it was the moment of feeling alone that could have taken me down a destructive road; the same one it took Deborah down.

#WNLBOOKTOURS, Reunite A Gift From God by M.E. Marshall #newrelease #fridayfinds #chrisitian #fiction

REUNITED A GIFT FROM GOD

Madlyn E. Marshall

Madlyn Marshall is the Founder of G.R.A.C.E. Financial Ministry Inc. G.R.A C.E is an acronym for “God’s Resources Advancing Christian Evangelism” a biblically based financial management and budgeting ministry. Madlyn is also conducts workshops writing all the material used in the workshops as well as during one on one consulting sessions.

Madlyn has also written several short stories and poems. It is in this genre where Madlyn has the opportunity to share the creative side of her writing. Madlyn has a vivid imagination and a unique way of bringing the stories and characters she writes about to life with descriptive images.

The Window of the Heart series is a collection of small fictional stories that explore the depth of God’s love and His capacity to restore that which was lost, albeit relationships, a renewed sense of oneself, or joy that had been buried under the weight of life’s challenges. In these stories, you will laugh, cry, and paused to think about your own challenges and I hope come away with a renewed spirit and a stronger faith.

In the first of the three book series, ReUnited – A Gift from God; the characters struggle with their faith in God, and the pain from their past. Can they truly forgive?
