Book Title: The Michelangelo Effect:
Keys to Extraordinary Success for Ordinary People

Genre: Self Help

About The Author

Nekesa Ouma-Namulu describes herself as a 'true citizen of the world,' having the privilege of calling many places home. She was born and brought up in Nairobi, the capital of that picturesque nation on Africa's eastern coast, and moved to London where marriage and career made Europe her second home for almost two decades. Her career as a Computer Networking Systems consultant, which included a year with Cisco Systems, saw her spend many happy hours in data centres all over the world, fiddling with fibre-optic cables plugged to huge data switches alight with dozens of different blinking lights. Work saw her set up camp in Mexico City, Seoul and most recently Paris, which led her to conclude, "no-one does a strike quite so thoroughly as the French." Nekesa has published a computing book, which sits happily next to others in UK libraries, as well as a children's fable. Today, Nekesa and her family split time between homes in Kenya, Spain and the UK.

5 Ways to Empower Women to Grow: Spiritually and Emotionally, by Paulette Harper #guestpost #spirituality #purpose #amreading #tips

Finding Purpose

"Life without purpose is time without meaning"
 Dr. Miles Monroe

“So many of us allow bad experiences to get the best of us and we don’t learn how to turn those experiences into stepping stones for us to grow spiritually, emotionally, financially or socially. I would be the first to agree that life can be hard and challenging however if we take a look back and begin to analyze how to use those bad experiences to help us in one area of our life, we will never look at bad experiences the same.”

Coming from Paulette Harper‘s book Completely Whole, which provides women of all ages with keys to living a life on purpose, spirit, soul and body.

Finding Purpose in Life

Learning How to Live a Happier Life

1. Accepting that sometimes the “Why” will never get answered. Handling our experience better, comes when we accept the fact that many times we won’t be able to change the outcome to what has happened. We can be resolved knowing it happened for some purpose or reason.

2. There is no easy way out. Many times we want to escape the bad experiences by not dealing with them head on, but that won’t solve anything. Stop for a moment, look at the situation and make the necessary changes that are required to be more empowered.

3. Realize that God is in control. Our lives are totally in the hands of someone who knows how all things will pan out. Trust Him in every situation, knowing that He will guide you as you look to Him for help.

4. Forgive yourself and others. In life people will hurt us. That includes family, spouses, children, and parents. As you forgive others for their trespasses, people will also forgive you.

5. Pray that God will show you what it is He is trying to teach you. Allow this opportunity to let God reveal to you what lessons are to be learned. Treat each experience as a great opportunity to grow and mature.

Cheryl, tell us about your book?

It’s way too common; the woman who simply exists instead of living a life that fulfills her. She is laden with guilt whenever she thinks about giving to herself, so she does what she knows best – takes care of others and neglects her own needs and desires. Those dreams she had before “life happened” are buried deep in her mind and soul. She’s living her life all over the place, but nowhere at the same time. “Have Your Cake & Eat it Too” is a sassy, easy-to-read guide will help you to be happy, successful, and satisfied. It will change the way you look at your relationships, and your career, and it will connect you to your power to change your life.

How did you come up with the idea for this book?

The topic of the book began as a seminar talk for my Permission Granted annual women’s empowerment seminar. Over the years, the topic became popular and the most requested so I decided to turn the message into a book so that I can empower more women who are tired of the status quo!

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

The difficult part of the writing the book is dedicating the time to do it. As a graphic & web designer, business coach and empowerment speaker my schedule is always tight. So, time was the toughest part. I had to set a date and plan an event around so that I could make it happen.

Why do you write?

I don’t consider myself a writer per se but a woman on assignment to empower women around the world and writing is a part of it.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

I want readers to understand that they have the power to change their own lives and not be conformed to mediocrity. Every dream that you have is possible and doable if you just activate the right ingredients and don’t give up during the process.

Who are your favorite authors?

Victoria Lowe, John Bevere, and John Maxwell

What book(s) are you reading now?

Launch by Jeff Walker

What books have most influenced your life?

• 10 Spiritual Principles of Successful Women by Victoria Lowe
• Commanding Your Life by Cindy Trimm
• Speak to It, Healing is In Your Mouth by Rodney R. Roberts
• Pursue Your Purpose & Live Your Dreams by Dr. Stacia Pierce

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

My business coach, Dr. Stacia Pierce. She wrote the forward to my book and has authored over 20 books herself.

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

Just do it. No more excuses. Set a firm date and stick to it!

Polish Your Diamond Virtual Book Tour by Teresia Miller Burroughs #NEWRELEASE #CHRISTIAN #NONFICTION

About The Author

Teresia Miller Burroughs was born in Bayboro NC and now resides in Raleigh NC. She is a certified Life Coach and the Founder and CEO of Transformation Coaching, LLC. She also Co-Pastors Holy Transformation Empowerment Center in Raleigh NC with her husband Pastor Burnice Burroughs. Teresia leads women's seminars, tele-sessions and workshops. She is on an empowering mission to help women live the life they were destined to live.

Teresia, Tell us about your book?

“Polish your Diamond” is a book about teaching women from all walks of life to shine, teaching them how to stay polished and how to be the women they were called to be by changing their mindset to one that’s positive, confident and brighter in every area of life. Polish your diamond was written for the young and the older. My book will help women view themselves as God views them, a beautiful brilliant diamond!

How did you come up with idea for this book?

God instructed me to write this book to encourage and empower women using my life experiences and sharing them. In my life I have been through a lot of hard situations especially in relationships. In my book, I tell about some of those things, I remember being a woman that didn’t know who she was, didn’t think I was valuable or worth much at all, so I settled for what came my way. So God spoke to me to share with women and help them see themselves as I now see myself, a beautiful shining diamond!

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

As I mentioned earlier, I have been through some rough bumps in life and as I was writing this book, my mind did go back to my past, the hurt and pain that I endured all because I saw myself way differently than God saw me, so I had some moments that I pondered on and said wow! Look at all you went through!!!! But as I continued to write I know now that all that I went through was to help some women out there that was just like me. So I will never get mad at anyone in my past or feel sorry for myself, im a new woman now and what I have been through has helped me to be stronger and more confident because during those times, I built a strong relationship with God. The past is over and I’m on an empowering mission to help fellow sisters come forth. No more crying and feeling sorry for myself, I’m a beautiful and I now help women to find their shine.

Why do you write?

I love putting my thoughts on paper, as I write, I just go on and on. God speaks and I write, it’s just so peaceful. As I was writing my book, I was set at a page a day, but as I set down in front of my computer, it just flowed so I went with it. I have so much to say and writing it all out helps me and it helps others. It’s my way of getting it all out and reloading more in. The more I write the more I get!

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

After reading my book, women will discover their inner brilliance, elevate their thinking, build their self-esteem and increase their value.

Who are your favorite authors? Joyce Meyer and Creflo Dollar

What book(s) are you reading now?

I’m reading the confident woman by Joyce Meyer and overcoming fear by Creflo Dollar

What books have most influenced your life?

I have to say that battlefield of the mind by Joyce Meyer has truly influenced my life in a great way, I know now that I can control my thoughts and in doing that I can control my life. I empowered now because I know that I can cast down any thoughts that is not of God, I don’t have to receive them if it doesn’t have to line up with what God has promised me. I can think on good things and have the victory in every area of my life!

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Joyce Myer, I can relate to her in so many ways, all her book were written in such a way that its well received and every time I read a book she has written I get something great out of it. She’s my mentor!

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

The advice I would give to aspiring writers is to never give up, always press forward, just stay in constant fellowship with God and he will feed you everything you are to say as you write. As he speak, you write. Never give up! Never give up! Never give up on your dream of becoming a writer.

About The Book

Have you lost your shine? Or better yet do you ever remember shining? Do you need a push forward? Do you need to change your mindset? Do you find yourself always settling for less? Always taking the back seat?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this book was written just for you and I want to let you know that God has not forgotten about you.

This book will help you see yourself as God sees you, a beautiful diamond! God instructed me to write this book to encourage and empower women from all walks of life to let you know that you are loved and of great value.

From the beginning to the end of Polish your Diamond you will see that you were created to shine brilliantly!

Polish your Diamond is guaranteed to create a better you! A positive you! A confident you! A fearless you!

In offering solutions, interactive workshops, and professional development training, Delmar’s goal is two-fold, 1) to offer value-added solutions to women-owned business owners, positioning them as an” employer of choice” through the establishing of HR tools, standards and systems; and 2) to equip women to design
their own career path by connecting who they are authentically to what they do to serve the world.

Delmar is the Author of the newly released book Seasons of My Soul: Lessons Learned in a Dry Place and co-author of The Power of Collaboration in Business, she has been featured in The Working Mother Magazine, The Business 101 Magazine, and The Little Pink Book Magazine; and featured on the Black Butterfly Media TV and Blog Talk Radio.

Tell us about your book?

Seasons of My Soul is about overcoming and having the tenacity to keep moving forward, even at times when I felt there was little hope to get through being unstuck, struggling with depression, toxic relationships and financial failures. It speaks of the lessons I learned as I got on the other side of each of those experiences and pass any shame or embarrassment that was illuminated in my own mind.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

It all came from me journaling for so many years and I saw writing this book as another way of journaling; only this time I allowed others to join me along the ride with more intimate details of what was in my mind, heart and soul as I journeyed through times in my life that had a significant impact.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

I found the most difficult part of writing the book was remembering the parts that left emotional and mental scars. Going back to some experiences had me right back in the moment as though it was happening in that moment of writing about it. However once it was written down it no longer held any power.

Why do you write?

Writing for me has always been therapeutic. I've been writing by way of journaling thoughts for more than 15 years. And I picked up that habit once I moved out of town from my family and friends to pursue my career.

Who are your favorite authors?

I actually don't have a particular favorite author, however I do like books written from a spiritual, personal and professional development point of view, and some of those authors from that genre that I enjoy include, TD Jakes, Joyce Meyers, John Maxwell, and Rick Warren; also, Napoleon Hill, Jay Levinson,
Steven Covey

What books have most influenced your life most?

Besides the Bible, I would say, Battlefield of The Mind by Joyce Meyers, Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren No Matter What by Lisa Nichols, and Repositioning by TD Jakes
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

If I had to choose, it would be TD Jakes, because I enjoy how he pulls the spiritual and real life matters together, creating a visual picture of what he talks about and how it resonates with the reader within as you apply the principles and lessons in your own life.
What book are you reading now?

I am currently reading Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive by T.D. Jakes and I Declare: 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life by Joel Osteen

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?

The lessons I believe readers will be able to take from this book is, (1) that you don't have to stay in the place in which you have fallen, (2) that there is absolute power in forgiving and letting go
of past hurts, and (3) that it's important to surround yourself with people that support you to renew within you a sense of hope

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

To not give up and get organized. Write by creating some structure around it including, writing an outline of thoughts, use color note-cards of the potential topics and what points you want to write about each point, schedule your writing time and stick to it. Additionally, begin building a platform prior to finishing and
launching your book; this helps to create momentum among your current and potential audience.

Paperback: 104 pages
Publisher: Warrior For Christ Publishing (May 27, 2014)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0990339505
ISBN-13: 978-0990339502
Book Title: Altars of the Heart
Genre: Christian Non-Fiction

About The Author
April Minger was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. After graduating from high school, April joined the United States Air Force. April works in the Insurance and Health Care fields, and also has a Master’s degree in Business, graduating with honors, and is a member of the Alpha Beta Kappa Chapter of The National Honor Society. She currently resides in Fort Drum, New York, where her husband serves on active duty as a member of the United States Army. April and her husband of eighteen years have two children.
About The Book

Do events from your past continue to play over and over in your mind? Do you feel like your relationship with God is not where it should be? Are you looking for a deeper worship experience?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then I have some good news for you. The answer may seem far away, but it's actually much closer than you think.
Altars of the Heart will take you on a journey to rediscover who you are and give you authentic tools to help you connect back to walking hand-in-hand with God through deeper worship.
The knowledge and insight that you will gain from reading this book will take you to a life of newfound liberation from insecurities, fear, doubt, shame, and un-forgiveness.
You will be encouraged to do an internal "heart" examination, to re-evaluate how you interact with others, make choices and worship the Lord.
The Word of God specifically states in the book of Hosea 4:6, that my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. I issue a challenge to you to open this book, and allow your life to experience freedom from bondage and finally discover your path to deeper worship.
Open this book, and let’s have a heart to heart conversation!

Welcome April, tell us about your book?

‘Altars of the Heart’ is about how to experience a deeper relationship with the Lord from a pure heart. It takes the reader on a journey of self-evaluation and self-discovery where they are able to understand why the events of their past continue to trouble them in the present. This book is not a cookie-cutter; one-size fits all approach to worship, but rather an individual “guided tour” that helps the reader discover their own path to deeper worship.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

‘Altars of the Heart’ came from my personal study time. I was doing a study on the life of Abraham, and that study led to a personal interest in the altars in bible. Because of this interest I began to study the meaning and uses of altars in Scripture. My study opened my spiritual eyes to the connection between the altars in the bible and the spiritual heart of man.

What do you hope readers will learn/discover from reading your book?

My hope is that reader will take the journey and submit to an honest heart conversation with their selves and allow God to reveal to them what he desires of them, so that they can experience their own victory available to them through Jesus Christ.

Where can visitors find you online?

I am on Facebook and Twitter. I also have my own website at: www.warriorforchristpublishing.com

What inspired you to write this book?

After doing the study on the altars in the bible and seeing the connection between them and the heart of man, I took my own journey of self-evaluation and self-discovery and after allowing myself to go through the process I knew I had to share. I wanted to share what I had learned and what I was able to achieve in my own walk with the Lord.

What’s next for you?

I am excited about the release of this book, and I believe that I will write a follow-up book that will continue to help readers move forward in the journey process.

How can someone get a copy of the book?

‘Altars of the Heart’ is available online at Amazon.com as well as, my website www.warriorforchristpublishing.com. The book is also available on e-book through Amazon.com and Barnes and Nobles.com

Tell us about yourself?

I am an Army wife and mother of two teenage children. I have been married to my husband and very best friend for over 18 years. I also served in the military in the U.S. Air Force. I am an only child, born and raised in Springfield, Ohio.

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?

I would say being able to write the book and share my story without sharing other peoples stories. I was very careful to write in a way that I was the only person exposed to the reader. It was not necessary to force others to be a part of something they may or may not be ready for. I have learned through my own journey that my testimony is all about bringing God glory and that does not leave room to offend or put down others. I f I need to do that in order to share a “testimony” then I need to reevaluate my motives.
Did you have to do any special research for your book? Why do you write? Is it something you've always done, or always wanted to do? Or is it something that you started fairly recently?

I wrote this book because of my desire to share what I learned through personal study. This is not something I ever considered doing before, but I am excited about the possibility of the next book.
